A timeless moment, a slice of enlightenment can happen anywhere, like while waiting for the light to change. It needn’t be at the beach in Maui, say, while watching the massive sea turtles scan the shoreline for predators or on top of the mountain with the wind cooling the sweat from your brow after a strenuous two day ascent. Or any of the countless other places around the globe Mike dragged Natalie to insisting that here she will see something, feel something she’s never felt before. Instead, relieved not to be on a plane, driving to an airport or unpacking in a foreign city, Natalie felt her body soar above the cobblestoned street near where they lived, felt time expanding against the familiar and the mundane. Must be the relief of the ordinary, Natalie reasoned as the light switched to green.
