They met during the Occupy Wall Street protests last fall in Zuccotti Park. Both gravitated to the library which featured all manner of books from Sun Tzu to Stephanie Meyer. Two weeks into the occupation they had their first “date”, though to call it that would be to embrace a patriarchal system of values and beliefs that they both rejected. Crushing student loans and a bleak economy drew them here, but it was the possibility of seeing each other every day; on the food line, at the alternative economics class and drafting the 99 Declaration that kept them going. On Tuesday, October 25th they joined hands and promised that when the pepper spray hit they would have each other’s back. Then they kissed caught up in the thrill of forging a new language for love.
