Elsie loves a good argument. O.K. Let’s be honest here. Elsie loves winning an argument. In the heat of battle, Elsie has a tendency to go for the jugular. When she was little, her Mom gave her a worn copy of “How to Win Friends and Influence People” hoping that this book would inspire Elsie to moderate her opinions. Elsie saw it as a sign of her Mom trying to steer her towards more lady-like behavior. Now, dealing with the fall out from yet another vicious argument she had won at the expense of good will in the office, Elsie sees her Mother’s concern in a new light. The icy hellos from colleagues she passes in the hallway confirm her suspicions.
